Offas Dyke Path Walking Holiday
in Wales
A Welsh hiking holiday from  Chepstow to Knighton
via The Wye Valley, Tintern Abbey, Llanthony Abbey, Hay-on-Wye

Offa’s Dyke Path, is one of Wales’s long distance walking trails, between Wales’ North coast at Prestatyn and the mouth of the River Wye and the Severn estuary at Chepstow, via Llangollen, River Dee, Knighton, Hay-on-Wye, Llanthony Abbey, Tintern Abbey and Chepstow.
This section of Offa’s Dyke Path walking holiday is an 80 mile way-marked long-distance walking trail. This hiking tour can be walked in either direction.

The walking trail officially opened in 1971 but this long-distance hiking path follows an earthwork of much greater antiquity. Built by King Offa of Mercia in the 8th century, Offa’s Dyke formed the ancient frontier between England and Wales. There are no border skirmishes these days, but you’ll find miles of quiet, uninterrupted Welsh countryside, stunning mountain ranges and a plethora of wildlife.

This Welsh self guided Offas Dyke Path walking holiday hikes through some of the highlights of Wales and is a great introduction to walking holidays in Wales and the UK. The Offa’s Dyke Path passes through some of Wales’s most spectacular landscapes full of wildlife and heritage.

You’ll encounter the Severn and Wye Rivers as the walking path winds between Denbighshire and Monmouthshire. Cultural heritage sites are in abundance, from the Palaeolithic Pontnewydd Cave, home to Wales’ earliest known settlers, to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct from the Industrial Age.
