Jersey and Guernsey Walking holiday
including Herm and Sark
on the Coastal Footpaths of the Channel Islands.
Enjoy a self-guided “around islands” 92 mile/147 kms walking holiday on the Channel Islands on Jersey, Guernsey, Herm and Sark.
This Jersey and Guernsey walking holiday offers an amazing variety of terrain, from heath-covered cliffs with views across the sea to the other Channel Islands, sloping sandy bays, secluded harbours to rocky coves.
The Channel Islands are steeped in history with relics dating back to Neolithic times, as well as reminders of the Channel Islands more recent past, including Martello Towers of the Napoleonic Wars and extensive German fortifications from the Second World War.
The coast paths of these islands offer relaxing walking and a great way to unwind and recuperate.
We offer the holiday in either order, Jersey first, followed by Guernsey, Herm and Sark, or Guernsey, Herm and Sark first, followed by Jersey.
Our self-guided walking holidays are designed with your comfort and enjoyment in mind and can be tailor-made to your own personal requirements.
The routes are clearly way-marked to provide reassurance on your hiking vacation.
We use a selection of guest houses, inns or small hotels with en-suite or private bathroom to ensure you are well rested each night after a busy day hiking and sightseeing. Rest assured that all our accommodation walking holiday providers are hand-picked and offer you that famous British hospitality.
Special diets can be catered for, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free.
We organize the luggage transfer so your bags are at your next accommodation when you arrive. We try to get your bags delivered by 4pm, but this may be delayed due to road conditions.
Let’s Go Walking has developed one of the largest selection of walking holidays.
Our offices are staffed 9am to 9pm during our walking season (March to September) to ensure your walking holiday runs without a hitch.
All our walking holidays are self-guided and you must be a confident map reader and able to navigate from a compass bearing. The weather in the UK and Ireland can change quickly effecting visibility and underfoot conditions. It is important to carry a selection of clothing with you on your hike each day to cope with changing weather conditions. If you are not confident of completing any days walk, do not set out.
This walking holiday in the UK operates March to September and in either direction.
The daily distances are only a suggestion. If you would like to walk longer or shorter distances, we can arrange that too.
Our stated distances include mileage to the accommodation or pickup point and so may not agree with the guide book mileages.
Rest days can be taken in any location.
Why not combine this walk with a hiking tour in another part of the UK or Ireland. Our staff will be happy to advise on necessary transfers.
Online booking available.
A deposit of £85 per person is required to secure the booking, with the balance due 6 weeks before departure.
Optional extra days and accommodation upgrades can be added during the booking process online.
Please wait for the confirmation of your holiday before making final travel plans just in case your holiday is not available for your requested date.

Jersey and Guernsey Walking Holiday
including Herm and Sark on the Coastal Footpaths of The Channel Islands
14 nights and 12 days walking
Day by Day Itinerary
Optional Day: Optional overnight in Poole
The ferry departure time from Poole is dependent on the tides and so the departure time can be early. If this is the case we can include an overnight stay in Poole to enable you to be in plenty of time for the ferry.
Day 1: Arrive Poole or St Malo or fly to Jersey
To start your Channel Islands walking holiday you make your own way to Poole in Dorset or St Malo in France to get the fast catamaran ferry to St Helier, Jersey. We can assist with air, coach or train transfers if required. You could use this as an opportunity to explore the Jurassic Coast, or combine this holiday with a walking holiday on the South West Coast Path. Car parking is available for the duration of your self-guided walking holiday on Jersey. We transfer you from the ferry or airport to your accommodation in the charming harbour village of St Aubin, Jersey
Day 2: St Aubin to La Pulente 9 miles
Walking from St Aubin past the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club you follow the Jersey Coastal Footpath towards Noirmont Point. Here there are many relics from the German Occupation. Then you walk past the very picturesque Portelet Bay and St Brelade’s Bay to Corbiere Point. Here is Corbiere Lighthouse on the Southwest point of Jersey. Turning north you can see the surfers taking advantage of the Atlantic rollers in St Ouen’s Bay.
Day 3: La Pulente to Greve de Lecq 10 miles
After St Ouen’s Bay you walk along the cliff tops to Grosnez Castle, dating from the 14th century. The other Channel Islands, Guernsey, Jethou, Herm, Sark, the Paternosters and Alderney can clearly be seen.
Day 4: Greve de Lecq to Bouley Bay 9 miles
Walking on from Greve de Lecq you come to Devil’s Hole, a dramatic collapsed cave. On reaching Sorel Point, the most northerly tip of Jersey, you can see the Normandy coast over to the east. You continue on the Jersey Coastal Footpath past Wolf’s Caves to Bonne Nuit Bay, and ideal stop for local crab sandwiches for lunch. After leaving Bonne Nuit Bay the coastal footpath skirts Les Platons, at 469ft/143m the highest point on the Island of Jersey.
Day 5: Bouley Bay to Gorey 9 miles
From Bouley Bay the coastal footpath continues to Rozel Bay and Fliquet Bay, the closest point to the French coast, just 14 miles away. Walking at sea level now the path continues to St Catherine’s Bay. The landmark of Mont Orgueil Castle in Gorey guides you to the end of today’s walk and a visit to this castle is a highlight of any holiday in Jersey.
Day 6: Gorey to St Helier 8 miles
Explore the network of staircases, towers and rooms of historic Mont Orgueil Castle before you leave Gorey and continue on your Jersey Coastal Footpath walk. Here you can walk along the beach or the edge of the common as you pass the Royal Jersey Golf Club. The coastline towards St Helier is a lunar-like seascape that is covered twice daily by Jersey’s massive 40ft/12m tides, one of the highest tides in the world.
Day 7: St Helier to St Aubin, via Jersey War Tunnels 5 miles
Take the Petit Train to Jersey’s capital St Helier and visit Jersey’s many heritage sites. Walk out to Elizabeth Castle, built by Sir Walter Raleigh while he was Governor of Jersey. If the tide is in, take the sea tractor. Visit St Matthew’s, the glass church decorated by Lalique, then take the inland woodland walk to the Jersey War Tunnels, a permanent reminder of the German Occupation of Jersey.
Optional Extra Day(s): spend some extra days to explore further, or just to relax.
Take a day trip to Guernsey and/or to St Malo, depending on sailing schedule.
Day 8: Transit Day fast ferry Jersey to Guernsey
We transfer you to the harbour in St Helier Jersey for the fast ferry to St Peter Port Guernsey. To start your holiday on Guernsey.
Day 9: St Peter Port to Petit Bôt Bay 9 miles
After exploring St Peter Port, you walk along by the harbour past the Underground Military Museum and the Aquarium. Enjoy very pleasant walking along the wooded cliff path to Fermain Bay, then around Jerbourg Point to Moulin Huet Bay. There are more stunning views as you walk around Saints Bay and Icart Point to Petit Bôt Bay.
Day 10: Petit Bôt Bay to Portelet Harbour 8 miles
Today’s walk continues along the rugged cliff path of the stunning south coast of Guernsey from Petit Bôt Bay via Le Gouffre and Havre de Bon Repos. Visit the watch tower at La Prevôté, originally built to protect the island from the French, and later added to during the German occupation. The path continues around the Pleinmont peninsula at the extreme southwestern end of Guernsey to Portelet Harbour.
Day 11: Portelet Harbour to Le Grand Havre 12 miles
A very pleasant walk today from Portelet Harbour to Le Grand Havre alongside 12 beaches. Visit Fort Grey, a Martello tower housing a shipwreck museum, and if the tide is out, you can walk around Lihou Island.
Day 12: Le Grand Havre to St Peter Port 12 miles
Today you are walking around the northwest peninsula of Guernsey via Fort Pembroke and Fort La Marchant. As you come around the point the islands of Alderney, Herm and Sark can be clearly seen
Day 13: The Island of Herm
Take a day-trip from St Peter Port to the island of Herm, only half a square mile, but 4 miles of coastal footpaths. Herm is a paradise of dramatic cliffs, wild flowers, hills, valleys, golden beaches and no cars.
Day 14: The Island of Sark
Take a day-trip from St Peter Port to the island of Sark, only 2 square miles, but 15 miles of coastal footpaths. Sark is entirely cliff-bound, and even the main harbours are at the foot of the cliff and access from them to the village is through tunnels and up a steep track. Little Sark is linked with the rest of the island by the knife-edge pass of Le Coupée.
Day 15: Depart after breakfast
You take the fast ferry back to Poole or St Malo. The ferry departure time from St Peter Port is dependent on the tides and so the arrival time in Poole can be late. If this is the case we can include an overnight stay in Poole. Or if traveling by plane, we transfer you back to the airport.
