Did your holiday come up to expectation?
“Absolutely I highly enjoyed it.”
Was the walking route as expected?
“I did encounter one problem in the northern part of South Uist. After some short road walking after passing “Our Lady of the Isles”, I was supposed to leave the road and walk around some lochs to the east before joining the road again and crossing a causeway to Benbecula. However I was not able to find the path. I even tried with GPS, but after walking in very boggy areas with no sign of any path and needing to climb barbed wire, I gave up and walked back to the road again where I completed the rest of the days walk….”

“All the accommodation was good, comfortable, with welcoming hosts and good breakfasts. Your advice to book meals well ahead was a good one – there are few places to eat, and the book up quickly.”
“Overall, we enjoyed walking the Hebridean Way despite the high winds and rain even though some sections were very challenging due to the ground conditions but we knew that we would have somewhere good to shower and rest every night … rather than wild camping!”

“Your arrangements were excellent with the only blip being the strike which, of course, was not your fault. Thank you for picking up the bill for the additional taxis involved. You did not have to do that so it is much appreciated. It was a very special two weeks.”

“We just wanted to say thank you for the seamless organisation of our lovely walking holiday in the Outer Hebrides and for arranging such fantastic weather or us too 🙂 We were very impressed with all your information and for the thoughtfully laminated maps! We would particularly like to mention and thank our fantastic taxi drivers, Kirsty on Barra and Angus and Callum on Harris and Lewis. FYI from Berneray to Harris we were scheduled to take the 10.30 ferry, which meant that for walkers like us (walking at a reasonable speed but not fast) it was impossible to rendezvous with our taxi at 17:00 and 18:00/18:30 would have made the walk more enjoyable for us. The lack of phone signal makes it difficult to contact the taxi on route, so we had to leave the route and take the road to try and meet our rendezvous time. Angus said other walkers he collected had had similar time problems on that walk, so I thought it might be helpful for your future planning to be aware of that.”

I thought I would let you know that my walking holiday which you organised for me (The Hebridean Way) went extremely well. I was very impressed with your company’s efficiency; the attention to detail, maps, instructions etc. Everything passed off without a hitch. I lost one day only due to extremely bad weather. Luckily for me I was in Tarbert and with no forward movement scheduled for that day I was not affected other than losing one day’s walking and a small section of the journey. I look forward to using your company again for future walks. The Pembrokeshire coast path is next up on my list.
Edwin UK 2019
“Just to say many thanks for organizing a superb holiday walking The Hebridean Way from south to north. I’ve enjoyed staying in all the accommodations with special mention for Carminish Hous in Leverburgh where accommodation and hospitality was exceptional. Luggage transfers and taxi pickups were excellent, with luggage always delivered before I arrived and taxi collections on time. The Hebridean Way is a cracking route in terms of contrasting scenery and terrain. I saw many beaches and St Kilda at their best and moorland at its atmospheric best”.
Emma UK 2019
“Everything went very well in terms of the accommodation and transport. The Harris Hotel at Tarbert was particularly good, absolutely superb. All the taxi companies were brillient, very co-operative and helpful. Some of the going was very tough in terms of the terrain and underfoot conditions. But to sum up we thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of walking it and we are all really pleased we did it, very worth while and satisfying. As you know we were all concerned about the midges but thankfully the only time we had a bit of a problem with them was when walking the stretch to the Butt of Lewis, otherwise we got away with it, fantastic And we only had one day when the weather was really bad so again we were lucky. Thank you for all the hard work which went into making the trip manageable and enjoyable.”

“Firstly, the arrangements you made were excellent for us. All the accommodations were great although some were a bit of a trek to reach after 12 miles of walking across moors and bogs.
Bag drops worked a treat. Many thanks. Sandy’s taxis on Barra was particularly entertaining. Lovely guy.
All in all we had a fantastic trip. For us (of an age) it was quite hard walking across moors and wading through bogs (I discovered my boots are not waterproof). In the end with a couple of wee detours(lost) and walking to accommodation we covered about 100 miles according to our phones.
We are now discussing finishing the walk next year by coming back to walk Harris and Lewis. You never know, we may be back in touch.
Thank you again for making our quick decision holiday such a success. We wish you well for the season.”

“Just a short note to say thanks for your organization of our walk on the Hebridean Way. We had a fantastic time. Everything went very smoothly and the taxi drivers in particular were great. I think three of the accommodation locations you provided were a bit out but only one of these caused us any concern.
One comment that might help any future walkers is that we found the section from Scarista to the start of the Coffin Track to be very difficult due to the roughness of the ground more than anything else. Potential ankle breaking stuff for several hours. While the views from this section were great, if we were to ever do the walk again I think we would walk this section along the road and then join the Coffin Track.
Another comment is that the next section of the walk after the Coffin Track, sometimes called the Scholars Path, is a very very special length of Track. While only 4.5 km long we would advise people to take this slowly and thoroughly enjoy it. In a couple of sections it is straight out of Lord of the Rings. Many thanks again”

I just wanted to say a BIG thank you and that we had an amazing time in the Outer Hebrides. The logistics worked perfectly; the B&Bs were diverse and gave a good insight into local people.
The distances were perfect and to have covered so much in just 8 days of running was amazing.

“So we arrived back last night and want to thank you for all your planning and attention to detail. All transfers and drivers were punctual and lovely and took great care of us.
B and B’s and hotels were great some exceptionally so and each one an experience in its own right. The other thing well worth mentioning to whoever runs the Hebridean Way paths and tracks out on moors quite a number of marker posts are missing especially at some really crucial points where there were numerous directions to take and caused us great concern in the very wet boggy ground where we got stuck and fell over, thinking on it might be as well to mention, especially if not in hot dry summer conditions, that some hill walking experience would be good. Fortunately Hilary and I are pretty sensible and experienced in outdoors and managed but was quite hairy in places, after the 5th day the land was so wet and we considered could be dangerous re accidents and no phone signal re rescue if needed we kept pretty well to main roads after that.
So in the scheme of things worth mentioning and again your arrangements and planning were excellent and ran as smooth as clockwork. Thank you again for a wonderful experience.”
