Walk Hadrian’s Wall Path, one of England’s long distance walking trails, walking in the far North of England from Wallsend or South Shields to Bowness-on-Solway, via Carlisle, Castlestead, Housesteads, Chollerford, Heddon-on-the-Wall and Newcastle upon Tyne.

If you add the optional day to walk from South Shields to Wallsend, this walking holiday on Hadrians Wall Path becomes a Coast to Coast walking holiday.

This English self-guided Hadrians Wall Path walking holiday hikes through some of the highlights of Roman Britain thanks to Emperor Hadrian and his wall. The Hadrian’s Wall Path is a great introduction to walking holidays in UK. The Hadrian’s Wall Path tour walks through some of Northern England’s most historic landscapes full of wildlife and Roman heritage, and the cities of Carlisle and Newcastle are en-route.

Hadrian’s Wall Path is one of UK’s National Walking Trails. The walking holiday begins at Newcastle on the east coast of England, and traverses the whole of North England, to Solway Firth on England’s West Coast. The route passes through the cities of Carlisle and Newcastle, both of which are great places to visit, good shopping and a fine selection of restaurants and pubs.

All along the route there are roman remains to visit and interesting countryside to enjoy. This walking holiday is great hiking for visitors to the UK as it offers a taste of England’s ancient history mixed with the modern UK of today in the cities of Carlisle and Newcastle.
The hiking route is a great first walking holiday as it is fairly easy walking and offers a wealth of interesting places to visit en-route.
Why not take some rest days in Carlisle to explore the city, or make an excursion England’s famous Lake District. Newcastle is also popular with its fine art gallery, museums and selection of shops, restaurants and pubs.
